panama city beach transportation[Panama City, Fla.] – Bay Town Trolley representatives announced they will award the system’s final 20th anniversary surprise to a local veteran in honor of Veterans Day. The winner will receive the grand prize of a one-year pass to ride Bay Town Trolley.

Throughout November, riders and community members are encouraged to nominate a local veteran they believe deserves to be honored. Nominations can be submitted at

“Local veterans are such an integral part of our community and the Bay Town Trolley system,” said Commissioner Mike Nichols, Chairman of the Bay County Transportation Planning Organization (TPO). “In celebration of Veterans Day and our 20th year anniversary, we wanted to recognize our veteran riders in a special way that the entire Bay County area could get involved with.”

The veteran initiative will serve as the final rider surprise in celebration of the system’s 20th anniversary. The winning veteran will be chosen and awarded the anniversary grand prize at the end of November.

“I am so thrilled to have been personally involved with this rider initiative throughout the year, and we are excited to be honoring our local veteran community with the final 20th anniversary surprise,” said Angela Bradley, Transit Systems Program Administrator for the Bay County Board of County Commissioners. “This year has been such an important milestone for Bay County transit, and it has been extremely rewarding to take part in thanking the riders that have contributed to Bay Town Trolley’s growth over the past 20 years.”

Earlier this year, riders were treated to a live musical performance and free rides in conjunction with Dump the Pump Day, as well as surprise Trolley Trivia giveaways on board the bus in celebration of Zero Emissions Day.

“This veteran initiative is one of the many ways that Bay Town Trolley continues to honor riders and celebrate the profound impact that the transportation service has here in the community,” said Vikki Garrett, Planner at West Florida Regional Planning Council and staff to the Bay County TPO. “By conducting these rider surprises throughout the year, the system has been able to thank those who have greatly contributed to Bay Town Trolley’s growth and success over the years. I’m excited to see what the next 20 years has in store for the system.”

This community-wide initiative comes at a time when the Bay County TPO is conducting a survey to gather community feedback on transportation needs, priorities and projected demands in the area. Those interested in helping drive the direction of transit can participate by visiting
