NASA Scientist Believes Earth Day Shorter Because of Chile Earthquake

Richard Gross, a research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory reports Tuesday, March 2nd that the recent 8.8 earthquake in Chile 'may have changed the entire Earth's rotation and shortened the length of days on our planet...by 1.26 milliseconds.'
According to an article from Yahoo! News, Gross used a computer model to determine the quake's effects on the Earth's figure access. "The figure axis is the axis around which the Earth's mass is balanced. It is offset from the Earth's north-south axis by about 33 feet (10 meters)."
